A pounding headache

I have had a pounding headache twice today. It comes. And then it goes. No real rhyme or reason. And it hurts in a very painful sort of hurting way. Like.you know how the dentist drill sounds inside your head? It hurts like that. I’m almost willing to bet it’s a weird migraine. I can’t take my migraine meds right now though, not because I am afraid I’ll end up in drug rehab, but because they sometimes make me loopy, and I have miles to go before I sleep tonight.

Humidity Check

Can we stop a minute and just weigh the air? I tell you, right before it reains it gets so thick that my asthmatics can hardly breath. And that includes me!!! It seems we go straight from heat to air conditioning every year, just to keep the air dry enough to beathe! I wonder if air purifiers could do it any cheaper?? And I especially wonder if we will ever have 4 seasons again!

need more space!

We have been planning some back yard camping trips this spring, so we can be sire we are ready to go to a real campground later this summer. I realized a few days ago that we might have a small problem. See, we have nine folks here, and one 8 passenger van. None people need a lot of stuff to camp. Two coolers, huge tent, beaucoup sleeping bags, clothes, shoes, dishes, etc, etc, etc. We may need to buy a bus just to get us and our stuff to whereever we want to camp. If I have to buy a new vehicle, that like, way ups the price, ykwim?

Time Management

Today may be the day. I am nearing the end of a massive day, and this may be the day where I cross all the items off my list. My mind is just boggling. I’ve tried any number of time management plans in my life, but today, I went with a small old-fashioned timer. In increments of 45 and 15 minutes, I have moved through this day like a knife through butter, including a trip to the library AND 2 instances of company. When the timer goes off, I move on to the next task. It works. Just like budget software deals with money, the timer allots my time. Ding! Time to move on.

Waffling on Wednesday

Or maybe I should call this Teetering on Thursday. In addition to all teh chores I detailed below, I have spent the day looking at the calendar, because I couldn’t decide what day it was. Since tomorrow’s list includes going to the library, and that’s a Friday job. Hehe, if I have to look at my chore list to figure out the day, it may be time to invest in a Patek Perpetual. And by invest, I do mean invest. Most of them cost more than my house.

No Napping Allowed

cook the breakfast, serve the breakfast, clean the breakfast, clean the bathroom, clean the bedroom, clean the living room, clean the kitchen, strip the sheets, wash the sheets, dry the sheets, replace the sheets, forget about lunch, assign the school, take a walk, check the school, oversee dinner, begin to work. The only things I didn’t do today?? Pay the car insurance and take a nap. Guess the joke’s on me!

It’s true

All those horror stories we heard about a mother’s work never ending? They are true. It’s 10pm, I am way past ready for bed, and yet there is more stuff to be done. And nap? All I have to do is mention nap to ensure all manner of natural and child caused disasters. Perhaps tomorrow, I can announce that it is time to go outside. And then I can put on a pair of those huge vintage sunglasses and close my eyes. Maybe they will be so busy playing they won’t notice. Until I start snoring, that is!

Speak UP!

I need to ask a favor. If this blog suddenly goes crazy in your feed, like umm, you know it gets full of links you know I didn’t put there, please say something. Don’t withhold the info from me, like someone trying to be kind to a mesothelioma patient. He’d want to knw, and so would I. It’s no fun sitting here thinking that folks think you’d willingly post porn links, ok? My kids read this blog. So does my mom. And while it hasn’t been hit yet, two others have, and only one brave soul emailed me.

How much mess?

How much mess can we make? And how long can it take to clean it all up? And how much laundry is that anyway? The truth is that it doesn’t matter how much mess a family makes. What matters is how it gets cleaned up. My suggestion is that mom not do it all. Those who help make it can help clean it, and the earlier you get them started the better. It only takes a blink between the time you are washing their personalized baby clothes in Dreft, and the time their jeans are as big as yours.

Still shoveling

I told you last time that we had done some moving. We spent some time this morning trying to shovel out of the mess, and we did make a bit of progress. We can get to all the furniture now, though not all of it is sittable. Soon. We can, however, sit at all the desks again, but in our old beat up chairs. The furniture fairy apparently forgot that we wanted nice leather office chairs in exchange for all our hard work. I’m figuring 2-3 more days ought to see the end of the mess. Then we can make another one. Of course.
