Hey, You!

I mean you, Miss Young and Sultry singer, and you, Miss WannaBe Model. You know who you are. Could you please put your clothes back on? I’ve got young sons and daughters here watching your every move, and I’m not quite ready to explain why we shouldn’t wear leather lingerie in public. And if you’ll get dressed, maybe I won’t have to.

Amazon Coupon

From Grey Poupon to Amazon coupon, all in one day. Nope, I can’t resist the opportunity to make a rhyme, and I shouldn’t have to when I am bringing treats like these to the table. I’ve got Amazon coupon codes for you. I also have an Amazon wishlist. Just sayin’

And oh boy, I just realized that when I was dinking around with the blog earlier tonight I wiped out the categories. Yay me.

The Time has Come, The Time is Now

Marvin K. Mooney, will you please blog now.

Here is what I have discovered doing school this week. I don’t have the time to maintain such a large and varied harem of blogs to the standards I prefer. I thought that spreading things out and keeping them separate would help me stay focused and produce better content, but I have found the opposite to be true. I am too rushed and frazzled and scattered to do justice to any of them! What a twist. And so, I am moving most of the subject matter of this blog back the CassKnits where it came from in the first place. That blog needs the laughter of children again.

As for this blog, I do have plans for it. There will still be posts here where I talk about plasma lifts and such, but the main focus will not be blogging about the children, and I would like to develop the site into more than just a blog. And just think, you’ll have a front row seat to view the action.

Grey Poupon

I’ve been asked to try these Grey Poupon Mustards and give an honest review, and now it is time to do so. I have always enjoyed Grey Poupon, and fancy mustards in general, so I was delighted by this assignment. I’ve yet to meet a mustard I did not like, and while I realize that to some people mustard is just mustard, that’s not the case for me.

Here’s the rest of what you need to know: we eat hotdogs every Saturday here. Ev-er-y Saturday. And if by some fluke of the calendar, we miss this Saturday ritual, we perform it on Friday or Sunday. And I hate hotdogs. Well, that’s not strictly true. I do enjoy them. Once or twice a year. Or with fancy-schmansy mustard, like so:

I put chili in the bun, followed by the dog, and then slathered the mustard on. And it was good. More than edible. We’ll be having hotdogs again this Saturday, and I have another Grey Poupon to try, so I will have to update this post then. It’s a coarse grind mustard, and it looks wonderful! I can totally see using that one as a glaze for ham………yumm!

Sucessfully Through Day One

IMG 1460
Wow. We got done. With all of it. The new schedule worked, everybody learned lots and it was a good day. But let me just say that if you plan to start the school day after lunch, and someone gets stuck on something, you may be doing school until after 8 pm. Just sayin’.

PS: Yes, we stopped to prepare, eat and clean up from dinner. We did not put on our Adidas golf gear and go play the back nine.

Christmas is Over

Our Christmas Festivities wrapped up this weekend, and it’s back to school for us today. I finished the lesson plans right on schedule last Friday, so I didn’t have to spend the weekend in a near panic, which was really nice since it was already scheduled full, LOL.

I have put all but my youngest student doing a good deal of work independently, instead of having to wait for me to get to it. Hopefully, they will be too tired to bicker. It’s certainly a big step up for a couple of them, but I am pretty sure that they are ready, and that the increased bickering is a sign that I am not allowing them to be engaged enough in their work. Time to quit spoon- feeding them and teach them to eat, yk?

Of course, if they are also tired enough to go to bed without arguing and sleep past 6am, that would be a bonus. Too bad they don’t make amby baby beds for 9 year olds. Mine wakes up at the crack of dawn no matter what time he goes to bed, and always has. Unfortunately, he also hates to be alone, so he wakes up a brother to fight with once he gets bored. Yay!

Yumm!

DaBaby just ate soap. Oh yes, she did eat some peachy-smelling home made goat’s milk soap. Unless it was the avocado based soap. Should I be glad that it was natural ingredient based, or horrified that it contained all that chemically smell goodness?

Super Amazing Glasses Deal, and I’m Not Kidding

Today’s Great Discovery: www.ZenniOptical.com

First, I have never ordered from this company before, so I cannot speak to their customer service, or speedy shipping or any of that stuff. However! They have complete glasses as low as $8, and since Country stepped on hers a few days ago, I may be ordering shortly. I am going to see if hers can be repaired, since they were only a month or so old, but I’m not holding my breath. They look a great deal like the ones in the picture these, so I know she’ll be satisfied with the style. Shipping is $4.95 per order.

Now here’s my question. Nobody works for free, right? So there guys are obviously making a profit, even at $8 a pair. How do they do that? And why does the optometrist office charge so much more? I kid you not, I don’t have insurance, and I paid over a hundred for an exam, and I bought the cheapest kid frames I could find. Yeah, for me, they are cute, let me show you:

They cost another $100plus. Let me see if I can do the math— 100plus - 8 + 4.95shipping = darn near 90 bucks I could have spent on stuff like food. Or shoes. Or, or, or.

Happy Tax Time and Feed Me

Just a couple of things real quick this morning, before I tackle the couch of disaster, write yet more lesson plans and take kids to the doctor. Oh, and shower. Must shower.

Happy Tax Time, and if you have a new baby, it’s even better. If you have a cute new baby (and aren’t they all?) it could be almost fantastic. Yeah, a fantastic tax time. Amazing thought that, huh?

It’s a contest from TurboTax called “America’s Cutest Last-Minute Tax Deduction.” Parents with children born in December 2007 are invited to upload a photo of their newborn to the contest’s web site, where their fellow taxpayers will vote for the cutest and most original photo of the baby. The winner will receive a $5,000 savings bond ($10,000 upon maturity). The site is www.CutestTaxDeduction.com. The contest ends January 9.

That’s today, so hurry up! Good thing we live in the digital age, huh?

Moving on to the food part, my friend Amy showed me this site, and I thought you would all enjoy have a peek at this. The article is on food for a family of four in 1952. Be sure to click the picture, because the full version is awe inspiring.

Library? Check!

Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow. Dh got up last night and started moving furniture. If you don;t remember what it looked like yesterday, go ahead and scroll down and have a look. The library is now done! I am so excited. Here’s what it looked like when we began this morning.

Library area:

Front door area:

The front door area still looks much the same, but the library has undergone a miraculous transformation! There are a total of 5 sets of shelves here. (We have 2 more, one by my desk that holds my manuals, cook books, knitting books and scout books, and one by the front door for active school books.) This just feels so good! I have missed my books.
IMG 1446

I will work on the front door area tomorrow. I’d consider putting one of the computers there, except that I don’t have a long enough Cat5e, and my kids are internet junkies, just like me. This afternoon will be spent on a couple of short blog posts, and then lesson plans and paperwork.
