Day after day, I have been getting phone calls. I’ll tell you right up front that I have been hanging up, because the calls are recorded. They start out “in just a few days your car warranty will expire”. Well, since I have not purchased a new car in a very long time, I don’t have a warranty, so I figured it was all a big hoax. I received an email (from an actual person) yesterday that changed my mind, so I’m blogging it!

It seems that you can actually buy an extended car warranty. Now before you blow me off, let me explain that I just had to have the fuel pump replaced on my van. It cost me $500. Plus the $150 for the time we had it towed in before, when the mechanic said he thought it was the fuel pump, but since the van started for him every time he turned the key for three days, he wasn’t iinclined to replace it until it failed for him. So $650, including the 2 tows. If I had had the Continental Warranty, then I would not have had to pay that, because one of the car repair costs they cover is the fuel system.

Now, I’ll be honest. I did not follow through and call for a quote. But I am considering it. It might be an investment that would really pay off in the long run.
