Blog Your Blessings, Mom is a person too

I was blessed this week with a couple of epiphanies, detailed here and here. I was also incredibly blessed by my girls this week as we shopped together. It was a fun time for all of us.

Stuff to Buy, Tales from the Front
4 Comments
So! I did what I said I was going to do. I went shopping for myself last night. I took Diva and Country with me, and they were a very big help. Those of you playing along with the scavenger hunt have already seen the clothes on CassKnits and the shoes on DigiCass. Now you can see the stack of “bingo clothes” that are headed out the door. There’s a equally large, if not larger, stack of stuff that’s designated as home wear only.

And here’s the meager pile of stuff the little clothes police declared fit to wear anywhere.

I have one more picture to share which I will do on Midlife Musings. It’s a special one just for Bob, who left me an incredibly scalding comment on my post from last Saturday. It doesn’t really belong on this blog, and since he commented on the other one, too, I am going to place it where *I* want it to be.

Cost Cutters

I was just looking back at the post I made Saturday evening, and all the helpful comments I got. Except the one about my shoes. That one wasn’t helpful at all, and it just made me mad, LOL! I’ve decided that I might need to do some shopping. I very rarely buy clothes for myself, because it’s hard to find stuff that fits, but….yeah. Maybe it’s time. Perhaps I can find something to match my hot air balloon shoes! As much as I hate shopping for clothes for myself, that would make it worth it.
Speaking of shopping, I found a place to get discounts on products for your baby. It’s a site you want to check frequently, because all the deals are “while supplies last”. That means you may or may not find what you are looking for (hehe, just like when I go shopping for me), but if you do find it the price will definitely be right (which may or may not be the case when I shop for myself).
What has all that got to do with the title of the post? Well, according to my kids, I’m a clothing loser (at least sometimes), but I bet that site right there makes you think I am the baby shopping winner.

Learning at Home

I’ve posted about Capella University before, and I guess in my mind, I’ve equated it with those schools that you see little ads for in the back of women’s magazines. That is, I kinda discredited as a viable resource for higher education, even as I liked and shared some of the information about them. But Capella is continuing to grow and change. Their latest offerings include Bachelor of Science in Public Safety program, as well as eight new graduate and undergraduate specializations in psychology, education, information technology, business, and criminal justice.
I did some poking around on the site, and I discovered that Capella takes federal financial aid, and can even help you with applying for it. I don’t know why that makes a difference in my mind, but it does, so I’m looking at Capella again with fresh eyes. Not for me, but for my children. If I spend their early school years tailoring a program to their needs, and allowing them to work on a flexible schedule, then having them continue that pattern for college may not be a bad idea.

I call that a sucessful tackle. In the interest of full disclosure, I confess that I have 2 small baskets to put away in my room. I elected to play a game with the kids instead of finishing tonight.

Getting it Done

I was crazy busy yesterday, and didn’t get over here to post. I apologize for that. If I explain that every dish in my house had to be washed because we had to bug bomb the place, will you forgive me? 8 people have a lot of dishes. I know this is so, because we are still working on it, and we started Sunday evening! I’m thinking it will be done tonight though.
I’m just going to make a couple of quick posts, and then I am heading off to do some household stuff. I’ve got a before picture of what I hope will be a Tackle it Tuesday success story. I need to get this sorted and put away.
