Cleaning out my drafts folder, still, and here is today’s nugget. It’s a site that will make you hungry, for sure! Joy of Baking has more delicious looking cakes than I have seen in a very long time, but it doesn’t stop there. the menu on the right covers breakfast, comfort foods and tons more. You’ll even find holiday recipes there. Go. Cook something. Then call me up and invite me over.

Cost Cutters, Stuff to Buy No Comments

I am thisclose to just ripping up my living room carpet. Seriously. I vacuumed yesterday, and….the thing is filthy. I’m scared to try to clean it, because it’s already bare in spots, and I am afraid that cleaning it would make it worse. Unfortunately, there’s just plywood underneath, and I am afraid the kids would get splinters.

I looked at Coupon Chief this morning to see if they had coupons on flooring. I found discounts for Home Depot, but the cost is still more than the amount of loose change in my pocket. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be laminate flooring once I finally get around to doing anything. I have about 340 square feet, and the Pergo is roughly $50 for 20 square feet, so I’m looking at $850, even with the coupon. *cough, choke, sputter* BUT! Pergo Presto is warranted against wear, staining and fading for 25 years, so while I could get cheaper flooring, I really think it would be worth it to splurge on the Pergo.

Tackle It Tuesday 4 Comments

I’m not posting a before pic, because I did this after midnight last night, and did not think the sleeping family members in my bedroom would care too much for the flash. And also, I forgot. Anyhow, I put these shelves together in an effort to clear a little counter space and also keep the stuff I use readily available. It happens to be the top part of an over-the-toilet organizer than my mom picked up for $3. Can that woman shop or what?????

Not Menu Plan Monday

Uncategorized 2 Comments

I apologize if you stopped by expecting to read our menu for this week. Tonight, we had tacos, and the rest of the week, we’ll be eating whatever DH brings home from the grocery store. Our van refused to start Friday, and spent the weekend at the car hospital, where it started first time, every time for three days. I forgot to give the mechanic the grocery list.

Blessings are those things in our lives which we have in abundance, right? I’m a mother of eight, right? I’ve had my children working on their rooms while I tackle the rest of the house. Let me just say that we are abundantly blessed with CLOTHES. I’m also blessed with a nifty new washing machine, and plenty of detergent to put in it.

Off topic Saturday part three

So can you be patient with me? Is it a fair trade-off to talk about things like Orlando rental homes on Saturday, if the rest of the week we talk about Mothering Many? Since a lot of this blog is about finding out what works for us as moms, and this method of posting works for me, it seems the most reasonable thing to do.

Off topic Saturday part two

I might mention things like teak outdoor furniture that really don’t fit in with my family, or my financial circumstances. What I figure is that if I set up a day to do it, then it will be over and done, and we can get back to discussing what you really come here for: food, family and fun. And also my rapier sharp wit and good looks.

A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. As you may have noticed, I get compensated for certain posts on this blog, and it’s something that works well for me. I’ve been struggling to fit those in in our conversations about family life and kids, and that part isn’t working quite so well. So, beginning today, when I have to talk about stuff like business cards, which really don’t apply to this blog, I’ll do it on Saturday.
