That’s a Warranty!

Have I posted about my air conditioning woes on this blog? I think I might have. We’ve had the thing “looked at” (that’s southernese for repaired again) every year for the five years we’ve lived here. That adventure culminated last year in replacing the whole outside unit.

Thankfully, the furnace has been a little better behaved. My family is very thankful for that, having learned that a cold mom is a mean and miserable mom. We actually have a heat pump, but I bypass that puppy and go straight for the heat strips. I want heat! I want forced air heat! And a heat pump, it is lame, IMNSHO.

Now what got me started on heat this fine March day? Well, I saw an ad for a company that will service boilers, and in that ad, it mentioned a five year warranty! I had to check that out a little closer, and I was a bit disappointed to see that the company is in the UK. Disappointed, but not surprised, because I figured a warranty like that on gas boiler service was too good to be true, at least here. It was a nice thought while it lasted, and I will try not to be too jealous. The fact that I only use my heat about 90 days per year may help with that just a bit.

Got a Ride?

For the past couple of years, we have been bigger than our vehicles. It’s not that we are all fat, it’s that there are more of us than there are seats in our van, and so each time the whole family wants to go somewhere we have to make two trips OR my mom helps my taking a couple with her. This works because the only time the whole family has to be somewhere is when the larger whole family is gathering. Oh, and sometimes church, but not usually.

Now, I have priced vehicles that seat more than 8, but there is no way I am affording a new vehicle and I have not yet found one in decent shape used. Not that I have given up looking, mind you! Because as rare as it is for us to all go somewhere, I’d like to be able to do it without having to “mastermind an event of extreme proportions”. Shoot, figuring out dinner is hard enough, yk?

I guess there is an upside. The type of vehicle I need is only made by a few manufacturers. If I can ever get my hands on one, I won’t have to worry about the expense of replacing BMW wheels. The vehicle I need is made right here in the US of A. I can buy American and help keep Americans at work. That’s a real nice thought. Unforrtunately, both dh and I would need a couple more jobs a piece to swing it.

Look who’s wearing wee-wear!

Also, I will miss soft, fluffy cloth diapers. Also, I saved enough money to buy a small third world country by choosing them over paper. Also, the amount of new underwear I am having to buy her costs enough to float a term life insurance for a month.

Not a Deal, even at BOGO

I’m talking about frozen breaded fish fillets. They were on sale BOGO this week, so I had dh pick some up. Because I am counting calories, I checked out the nutrition panel, and after I re-inserted my eyeballs, I pretty much decided we won’t be buying these things ever again. They have taken fish, a delightful and nutritious food, which is low fat and high protein in it’s natural state and turned it into some…..substance with 17 grams of fat and 8 grams of protein per serving. UGH! and No!

Be sure and step up your elliptical routine.
