		<description>Current understanding is that it&#039;s not necessary to whip out the appendix or tonsils, unless it&#039;s life threatening. 

In my parents time, they were all for getting the tonsils out, just &#039;cause the kid got the occasional infection, as kids will do; their immune systems are developing, and they&#039;re always messing about in the dirt, etc.

People have a weird habit of suggesting surgery, like human beings are robots, or something; take a part out, stick something in.

Personally, I&#039;ve still got all my bits, and I&#039;m glad. My mother was agin&#039; putting her kids under the knife (my cousins weren&#039;t so lucky). I&#039;m _especially_ glad my parents aren&#039;t Jewish, if you get my meaning ;)</description>
