In my parents time, they were all for getting the tonsils out, just 'cause the kid got the occasional infection, as kids will do; their immune systems are developing, and they're always messing about in the dirt, etc. People have a weird habit of suggesting surgery, like human beings are robots, or something; take a part out, stick something in. Personally, I've still got all my bits, and I'm glad. My mother was agin' putting her kids under the knife (my cousins weren't so lucky).
